About
Kwo Ping (Anchoret) is an independent musicologist, writer, and music film director. A graduate of the Department of Musicology at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, her research focuses on contemporary performance interpretation in classical music and on creative practices in music within the cultural flows between East and West. Building on this research and guided by a raw creative instinct, she develops research-based creative work through writing, transmedia production, and audio-visual storytelling, producing digital content that cuts through the barriers between classical music and the people it was always meant for.
Sound+ 聲音伽
Founded by Kwo Ping in 2025, Sound+ 聲音伽 is a music culture brand reimagining how music is heard, seen, and understood. Through music documentaries, artist profiles, experimental radio programs, and musicological video essays, it transforms musicological research into public-facing expressions in sound and image. Grounded in musicology yet alive to personal sensory experience, Sound+ focuses on artists’ musical thought and individual experience, exploring how classical music can be narrated and presented within contemporary media contexts. For classical music, analysis becomes image, and visualization becomes a second language for sound itself.

Kwo Ping creates collaborative digital portraits with musicians — capturing the sonic identity of performers through audio-visual storytelling, and exploring classical music beyond the traditional frameworks of prestige and performance: through street corners, graffiti walls, and everyday encounters where artists shed their labels and music reveals its most genuine voice.
